Fall Was Fun! We are still experiencing the slow down that all the world is; however Noyes Arts Designs kept busy with some wonderful projects with some fabulous clients this past quarter. We wrote our mantra in the summer of 2009, which goes this way: We believe we are a steadily growing company that attracts Great Clients Great Projects Abundance Respect and The Prosperity We Deserve We are happy, safe and free of FEAR. We are the greatest team around, and, best of all, WE ARE HAVING FUN! We begin our days saying this, and, by golly, it works. We designed a new Emergency Department addition at Banner’s Torrington Hospital in Wyoming. It was a joy to work with the new CEO, Brenda Sturm, who moved from SE Alaska to take the helm of this Eastern Wyoming town. We thought she’d be fine with the severe cold spell we had; but, she explained that where she lived in Alaska, it was NEVER that cold. Amazing. Brad McCaslin was wonderful to work with as project manager. Denver Health kept us involved as they continue to redo the existing hospital. This fall we worked with Julie Entwistle to finish off their new Emergency Department as well as redoing the Cafeteria. Truly, if you have a chance, go to the Cafeteria for lunch. It’s just really fun with abstract art that everyone loves and the food is good as well. As they all say, Denver Health is no longer your grandma’s Denver General! We also worked with Ed Maxey to redo the Waiting Room for the SICU which now provides an inviting space for families to wait, often for hours and days. We are now designing the hallway entryway for the actual department showing off the strengths of this impressive department, which has been determined by the American College of Surgeons to have the best trauma outcomes in the Nation. Beyond that, we have also added to the remodeling of the Decedent Affairs department whose facelift is almost complete. It’s a great advertisement for what a difference a bit of paint and art can do for not a lot of money! Midtown Medical Office building underwent a total facelift, and we got to work with Kelly Crowther of Heery Architects to give the final element of artwork to this building. Cindi Osieczanek from Insite Properties was a great cheerleader for this project, which made her residents so happy when it was finished. They had lived with construction for a long time, and were thrilled with the new colors and loved the artwork. As we always say, “Art may not be the most important element in a project; but it IS the element that pulls all other important elements of the design together. An exiting project that we are immersed in at this time is happening at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, CO. Working closely with the chaplain, Bruce Rippe, and Judy Chapman from the Foundation, we are creating a grove of Aspens with carved and colored airbrushed panels of glass created by master glass sculptor, Ed Lucia. The finished panels will surround the newly expanded Chapel at the hospital. It will be a serene space that will serve family and friends whose loved ones are being cared for in the hospital. Besides the Chapel itself, Chris White, a wonderful sculptor from Loveland, is working on two projects connected with the Chapel. The hospital itself was built on sacred Indian ground; and when expanded for the new Emergency Department, the “Grandfather Tree” on that land was saved out of respect. Chris will be taking the tree to create a bench which will serve as a meditative space outside of the Emergency Department and directly outside the Chapel. From the wood he carves away, he will also create a hanging sculpture that will be installed above the focal podium of the Chapel. Look for pictures of these projects in an upcoming article. We would love to hear if you have seen any of these projects. Please write on our forum if so, or if you know of similar projects in which we might be involved.
